I grew up in Lexington Massachusetts and attended public school there. My dad is a retired physician and my mother worked as a teacher for many years. While it was in the back of my mind to become a physician for many years, I had thought about becoming an actor, a philosophy professor, and was close to moving to London with a health care market research company I worked for after college. Oh, how my life would have been different !
Let me back up. After attending high school, I attended Union College, in Schenectady New York and studies biologic sciences and philosophy. I studied Japanese and loved traveling to Osaka and Kyoto, Japan during my third year. It’s a hard language, but a fascinating one. After graduating, I moved to New York City where I spent a year doing neuroimaging research, looking for ways to detect Parkinson's Disease and other disorders. For a number of years after that I worked for a health care market research company, which used physician interviews and other data to predict which products would be most beneficial to patients. Finally, in 2008 I returned home to Boston (to my mother's delight) and attended Tufts University School of Medicine where I received an MD and MBA. After Graduation I moved to gorgeous San Diego for residency (mom visits). I fell in love with long runs near Balboa Park, reading nerdy medical journals while sitting on Coronado Beach and sending friends back home pictures of palm trees. Then, my life. changed once again when I met my beautiful, talented and inspiring wife. We now have a daughter and it’s the greatest joy watching her grow, learn and discover.
Being a physician is something I truly love. It enabled me to meet people, continuously learn, and help folks live healthier lives. I learn from my patients constantly, and feel an enormous amount of gratitude that I get to work in healthcare.
